The World Health Organization’s second session kicked off with a bold declaration from South Africa, spouting conspiracy theories of a “zombie apocalypse”. This was promptly followed up by a self-aggrandizing and largely pointless speech from the delegate from Bolivia.
The trend of baseless harassment continued with a pointed and personal attack on Costa Rica and Belarus.
These troubling themes were seen throughout the morning. South Africa promoted profits at the expense of public health, while the Netherlands advocated for military action against those who disagree with their proposed health policy. Meanwhile, Bolivia made a point of mocking those who push for health advocacy.
