The first day of committee sessions brought upon controversy, and dangerous bouts of rhetoric. Below are some highlights from the first steps of debate:


- Bolivia implies population is dumb and unprepared to handle health crises.

- Poland claims nuclear warfare is “good”, implies commencement global conflict.

- Netherlands attack democracy, undermines will of the people in speech at Security Council. 

- Russia espouses Democratic values, issues a call for peace in landmark Security Council declaration.

- United States denies history of human rights infringements, while attacking free press and democratic institutions in baseless attacks on the Russian Federation. 

- Venezuela denounces its governance, calls socialism “a bad idea”.

- Belarus declares value in illness in “limiting population”.
